We have all woken up at one point or another with a sore neck or back, or even both! Some of us even get sudden pains or weird sensations in our necks and backs after moving too quickly or in a new way. The question for most however, is when to seek out medical attention from a chiropractor? There are several warning signs of serious injury, and some other things that we call “keep an eye on it” signs. This post is here to help guide readers through both of these types of signs, and some of the most common questions (good and bad) that go through our patients minds before they finally decide to come and see us.
Serious injury signs VS. keep an eye on it signs:
Serious injury signs: there are some obvious and not so obvious signs and signals our bodies will send to communicate to our brains that something is seriously wrong. Some of the serious warning signs for a back or neck injuries include: notable swelling or pain, inability to walk or stand without severe pain, and inability to move the affected area without severe pain. These are all signals from your body attempting to communicate something is very wrong and to stop doing that movement. For most of us however, we simply can’t stop walking or standing, and even if we could, that wouldn’t fix the problem. If you are ever experiencing any of these symptoms please!- call advanced wellness center immediately, and we will give you a full diagnostic evaluation to not only identify the problem/injury, but a strategy to completely and fully fix the problem.
Keeep an eye on it signs: while some may not notice a warning sign as severe as those mentioned above, there are still less intense signs that you should familiarize yourself with, as a preventative measure for your spinal health. Some of these signs to keep an eye on include: soreness along your spine, waking up “stiff”, and lumps or bumps (different from swelling, more like “knots” in your back). While most of these can be relieved with icing and stretching, we certainly encourage you to stop into our office if you’re just not sure. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Chances are, you’re on your way to an injury and would benefit greatly from a visit.
While these are all general recommendations, above all we strongly suggest you first and foremost listen to your own body. You know it best. If you have questions or are just curious and want to get something checked out by a professional, don’t hesitate to give Advanced Wellness Center a call! We are currently accepting new patients, and want to help you master all areas of your health. We hope to see you around the office!
